Let's Go.

So I was feeling bad because I haven't played at City Crafter in too long. I decided that whatever the challenge was - I was gonna get involved. They ask that you scraplift the guest designers card.

Use the colours, or any element from the card that strikes you. I took the layout and the "things that fly" theme and made this card.

A few of my favourite things on this card. Tissue paper, felt, and even some out-of-my-budget die cuts and Webster's Pages embellishments. My local scrapbooking store had a huge going out of business sale and put everything at 50%, and then 70% off!! I picked up a ton of goodies.
Also for Flutterby Wednesday. ANYTHING GOES
I'll be back tomorrow for the launch of our new challenge at Just Tracy's Crafts.
Thanks,
Farrah

3 + 1

I made this for the CAS-ual Friday challenge.

Three shades of pink, on Kraft cardstock. Tricky card to execute and I still can't tell what I think of it. But fun to try something new. I hand-drew the flowers, then traced them with a thin line of glue to hold the thread in place. I have an idea for a card similar to this with multicoloured braided threads, I'm looking forward to trying that.

All Throught the House.

Quick post, I'm super tired but I know I won't have a chance to get on here this weekend. In an earlier post I mentioned that I was looking forward to the day one of the kids had to stay home from school and then I would get some one-on-one time with just them. Well it happened today, soooo early in the school year. Nathan has a minor cold, nothing serious but enough that I couldn't send him to school. And yes, it was GREAT having the afternoon just with him. I read the library books that we don't always get time time for, and played a couple of games of Candyland. It was fun. But poor Adam was terribly frightened at the thought of being at school alone. He begged me all morning to let him stay home and I felt bad but I had to say no. (For those who don't know - my boys are 4 year old identical twins and being separated is not something they're used to, or want to get used to!) I explained to him that I understood his anxiety and that it's fine to feel that way, but that he would have a good time and end up being glad I made him go. Once we got to the school and he realized that it was really gonna happen he braved up. He told me "ok, I'll have a good day." and walked in without hesitation. He did have a good day, said he was happy he went, and I feel so so so proud of him. Not such a quick post. I guess this was like therapy for me because I really did second guess my decision to send him, was worried he actually wouldn't be able to handle it, and he showed me what a great kid he's become.
Ok, here's my card.

It Feels Like Fall.

The weather's gotten cooler, leaves are beginning to change. I've seen some amazing Fall cards in blogland... but these cards still say summer. In denial.
I took this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays as a reason to make a card set for the rapidly approaching craft show. The challenge is MINI CARDS. I looooooove making teeny tiny little cards! These one's are 3 1/4" x 3 1/4".

So I knew I wanted to use butterflies. And I wanted both butterflies to be the same image, only in different sizes. I could have used a digi as it's easy to adjust the stamp's size, but I have no idea how to change the colour. For me, all digis can only be printed in black. Instead, (experiment time) I used a clear butterfly stamp, used it in the colour I wanted, then ran it through my copier at 300%. Ok, that works.

It's Friday Night......

.... and I am livin' it up! Nope, not even close. I'm hanging with my sweet - but has terrible taste in movies - daughter watching Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. I had to escape all the pink bling and bad acting so here I am. Livy is beside me and keeps muttering things like " Ah, I looooove that dress" or "I'm so getting a dog like that when I'm a teenager." I don't think she even noticed that I picked up my laptop.
So, quickly, I've made a calendar. Started out based on an idea I saw once in PaperCrafts or maybe Scrapbooks Etc magazine using an old CD case. All the CD cases that I have are too thin so I switched up the design.
This is the front.

Then it opens up, the same way a card would, and becomes a calendar. The first side is very simple and has only a clothes pin to hold the month sheet, and the back has a pocket to hold the rest of the months.

All the stickers and papers are from "Fly A Kite" by October Afternoon. I bought the kit for $30 at a scrapbooking store and I've gotten so much use out of it.

I (HEART) Vampires.

Second day of school was a success, I'm starting to fall back into my old routine, it feels nice. But I snacked all afternoon for some reason so I made burritos (yeck!) for the fam for dinner and slipped away to do this post.

I made this card for 2 challenges. CAS-ual Fridays and their BLACK,WHITE AND READ ALL OVER CHALLENGE. I almost didn't get it done in time because this card is my second attempt. The first attemp - gar-bage! So the challenge is to make a card that's b/w and red, and inspired by a book. I know I had a specific book in mind making this, I just can't remember what it was. Some obscure hidden gem, maybe? Just joking - or JJ as we say in my house - I'm totally counting down to the next Twilight movie!!
The second challenge is Sir Stamp Alot. They have a FRAME IT theme. I tried something different with this card and folded the edges in then sewed them in place.
The apple die-cut and fangs are hand drawn and cut out.

Thanks,
Farrah

Christmas Count.

I said a while back that I was dedicating 2 weeks strictly for making Christmas cards. I think I did OK, I didn't add them up but it looks like I made a dozen or so. As I was off-the-hook busy with family stuff I didn't take pics of most of them but I can show you these.

I made 5 of them to (hopefully) sell at the craft show. The silhouette image is from a CD of mine. The HO HO HO stamp is from the $1 bin at Michael's, then some stitching and felt, 2 of my favourite things.

I hope all of you with kids that started school today enjoyed yourselves. My daughter had her first day of Grade 2 and it went well. She was placed in a Grade 2/3 split class. I have no experience with this, I wonder how the teachers/principal decide which students to put in these types of classes. She thinks it's exciting and was exhausted by the end of the night, I can hear her snoring in her room right now!

Anyway, my cards are for these challenges -
Winter Wonderland. FOR A SPECIAL PERSON.
Card Cupids. STITCHING.
Crafty Ribbon. FESTIVE CHEER.

Also, just now, before hitting publish I ran a spell check and had NO words spelled incorrectly!!! That is a first!

Going Digital.

We're coming up to the last weekend of the summer, and it has been a fantastic summer for me. Good times with the kids and with friends. Today is me and hubby's 10 year wedding anniversary and we're leaving with the fam for a night away. Spending a couple days at Great Wolf Lodge.
Today is the start of our next challenge at Just Tracy's Crafts. It's a fun one.... the theme is THINGS WITH WINGS. Just Tracy's is sponsering this months challenge with this generous prize.

For my card I wanted to try something unusual for me and used clip art instead of stamps. I was curious if it would work and I like the way it turned out.

I added some chalk as I found the card needed just a hint more colour.

Hopefully you can play along. The winner will get the prize shown and a guest designer spot, and there is also the Top 3 badge up for grabs.
